Dozens, if not hundreds, of events all around the world,
coordinated to happen at the same time to bring together geocachers
and introduce others (newbies) to geocaching.
Saturday, June 4, 2011 will be the day hundreds, if not thousands,
of geocachers will mob together, around the
world.
This ALABAMA flash mob event is one of many taking place around the
world as part of the World Wide Flash Mob VIII. Come take part in
this zany, 15-minute, geocaching event. Wear your TEAM COLORS!
Whether you support Alabama, Auburn, UAB, USA, UNA, ASU,
Jacksonville State, or some "other" college, come out in your
team's colors!... and bring some balloons to show your
allegiance.
Since this state has the last two BCS Championship-winning teams
("Roll Tide" and "War Eagle"), what better time than now to show
the world your pride!
The event will begin precisely at 12:00 Noon on Saturday June 4,
2011.
The event will be held at the posted
coordinates.The start of the event will be signaled by the
appearance of a
special five gallon bucket.
Until that time, do not add to the appearance of a
gathering about to happen - wait for the bucket!
This event is Rain or Shine - it is in Alabama after all, so there
really is no chance of predicting the weather more than 5 minutes
ahead of time.
We ask everyone to help with the timing of the event by using their
GPSr, all of which are in sync from the GPS
satellites.
There will be two group photos taken to preserve
this event. The "BEFORE" pic will be taken at 12:02 and "AFTER" at
12:12. The time in between will be consumed by a water fight ("with
no violence - kid approved here!). While in the throes of taking
the "AFTER" pic, we'll some how manage to find time for drawing for
door prizes.
The event officially ends at 12:15 on the dot! At that time, the
event cards will be packed up and sealed away. The event area will
be vacated without a trace!!!
There are plenty of caches nearby so go and enjoy the rest of the
day! There is a food court neaby, so we might re-gather there, but
we MUST abandon the flash mob area first!
