Geocache Description:

Cache is not at the posted coordinates! This will take you to the middle of a pond in Claude Moore Park and the cache is certainly not there.

The final cache location will be on the Purple trail. All trails are well marked and maps are available at the visitor center.

This cache was approved by and placed with permission of park management.

Please do not hunt this cache at night and make sure to observe gate closure times posted at all park entrances (usually dawn to dusk).

Please note the trails can be quite muddy after periods of rain.

To find the final coordinates and the cache you will need to take a brief walk along Vestal's Gap Road within Claude Moore Park. At each of the 3 stops you will need to read some of the local history, get some numbers, and do some math.

Now on with the puzzle:
Sign #1: At this stop you will come across a sign that has 3 plaques on it. Interpret the 3 plaques from top to bottom and left to right.

On the first plaque, please take the last 2 digits of the birth year of the person named at the top of this plaque. This answer will be: AB.

On the second plaque, please take the last 2 digits of the year at the top of this plaque. This answer will be: CD.

On the third plaque, please take the last 2 digits of the year at the top of this plaque. This answer will be: EF.

Finally, all plaques identify that they were placed by the Loudoun Restoration and Preservation Society in what year? Please take the last digit in the year, and this will be: G.

Sign #2: This sign contains a map of the area. At the southeast corner (bottom right) of the map a city is identified. Please count the number of letters in this city. This will be: L.

Sign #3: On this sign is a floor plan of the Lanesville House in front of you. How many total rooms existed in the house prior to c. 1920. Please add 1 to your answer. This will be: M.

Continue using the floor plan from the previous question. How many rooms were built c. 1800? This will be: P.

Now that you have stopped at each sign, we can now do the following math to get to the final coordinates. Taking the answers from above:

AB + CD + EF - G = HJK

L + M = N

The final coordinates for the cache will be: N39 01.HJK W077 24.NP
