Need a break from puzzle caches, hours on the Internet or looking
for Red Herrings?
Want to get out on to the moor and do some real walking?
Then this is the series of caches for you!
There are 14 caches which can be found on a single walk of a
minimum of 13 miles (which in reality will be between 14 and 15
miles) and which will take you into the deepest and wildest part of
Dartmoor! 12 caches are traditional caches, the other two are bonus
caches - one to be found on your outward trek, the other on your
return trek.
The challenge is to travel to these remote locations, rather
than to search for hours finding each cache (you won't have the
time anyway) so, surprise, surprise, I am including a spoiler photo
for every cache!
Plus, of course, all are proper caches with no micros and no gorse
bushes!
These caches don't all have to be done on the same day, and you
don't have to start at the parking place indicated, but if you want
to find both bonuses you need to find the caches in the numbered
order.
IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to complete
this series of caches you will need to enter the Okehampton
Military Range where live firing occurs. You must check out the
Firing Notices before entering the range. DO NOT ENTER THE RANGE
WHEN THE RED FLAGS ARE FLYING. Never pick up any objects, they may
be unexploded devices.

Please also note: None of the caches
are located within the Merrivale Range and you can complete this
series even when the Merrivale Range is active. However several
caches are close to the Merrivale Range and care must be taken not
to wander into the range when it is active.
The weather on Dartmoor can change
suddenly and unexpectedly and ALL types of weather conditions can
be experienced. Please ensure that you have the correct clothing
and map & compass (and know how to use them). Please do NOT
rely solely on your GPS.
Each cache has been rated individually up to a maximum terrain
rating of 4.5. (I still don't consider that any normal location on
Dartmoor deserves a 5 for terrain.)

This cache is immediately adjacent to
the Merrivale Military Range. Take care not to wander into the
range when it is active.
This cache is approximately 3.4 miles into
your walk and contains part coordinates for the bonus cache:

I would like to thank the Dartmoor National
Park Authority for their kind permission to allow me to place this
cache.
