The National Trust geocaches in the Peak District are a new way for people to explore and engage with this beautiful area.
Focusing on wildlife and habitats, the geocaches are all located near public rights of way and so are accessible year round without charge.
Each geocache contains a log book for you to leave your name and comments, as well as information about the biodiversity or history of each location. Some of the items in the caches are not swappable, including a logbook, pencil and activity and information cards. Please do not swap these items. There may be other items that are left by fellow geocachers to be exchanged (e.g. small toys) or moved on (geocache coins / travel bugs).
Some geocaches may be camouflaged with twigs and leaves, so please replace this cover after you have finished with them.
Things to be aware of when setting out to find our geocaches:
1. The public footpaths can be uneven, muddy and slippery in wet weather. Wellies or walking boots are recommended!
2. Many areas have trip hazards – so watch where you put your feet.
3. Keep an eye on young children as there are slopes and drop-offs close to the footpaths.
4. Please keep an eye out for rubbish, stinging nettles, brambles and holly (for your own comfort!) and tread carefully to avoid trampling the plants (e.g. bluebells in spring). It would be wise to use a stick when looking for the geocache, rather than your hands.
5. Some of the footpaths pass through fields and open moorland, which at some times of the year have livestock in them. Please close all gates behind you and keep dogs on a lead.

Access Information: The public footpaths are very uneven in places and may be slippery. There are also some moderate/difficult slopes and several stiles along some routes.
