Geocache Description:

Jhuilu Historical Trail is 10.3km from Bridge Cimu to Swallow Grotto, needs 4 to 7 hours to complete.

In 1914, the Japanese built a military trail from Taroko to Wushe to allow the transport of men and materials for the Battle of Taroko. It was the predecessor of the Hehuan Cross-Mountain Trail.

After the battle, to strengthen their control of the local aborigine villages, the trail was turned into an "aborigine pacification trail".

In 1917, parts of the road were turned Jhuilu Historical Trail, the trail crosses a cliff it's only 90cm wide and at an elevation of 800m, people named it "Road on the sky".
