This cache has served to reinforce my feelings on the beauty of geocaching and how it serves as a catalyst for bringing people together. Local cacher "A Team Vallejo", a monster of caching, has a cache in Napa called "WHY?", its simple question: why do you cache? This is my answer to Bill's question... Why? by Tractordude Crisp air touched by the morning sun Warms the scent of dewy grass The day's activity just begun Another dawn has come to pass Well worn trails, and some not so Deliver to the treasure's lair Those who seek it knowing, though Others know not of the fare Know not of the hiding, guessing Know not of the plans well laid Know nothing of the wondrous blessing From a total stranger bade Upon the morning cacher ***** The sun above and beaming so A warming of the soul and more A new place never seeming so Inviting or as fresh before The path we take a choice that must Be given all our deepest thought And when it seems retreat is just We learn anew what we have sought For we have sought the path pristine And we have sought the thicket And friendship from afar we glean Inside a plastic cricket Found by the noon-day cacher ***** Pallor falls upon the blue sky Rending day to afternoon Loathsome is the trail home by Which we should be leaving soon But treasure is a mistress, luring Taunting, teasing, the siren's song And pleasure is in the procuring That for which we dearly long We long for newness in our day We long for clarity of mind For friendship, be it here today Or of the long forgotten kind So dreams the evening cacher ***** Tumult and toil serve us well As vessels from which we drink strength But leftover emotions swell If daily bustle thrives at length Therefor we seek out treasures which Assume identities unknown From strangers we may never meet Where nonetheless a friendship's grown A friendship based on honor, yet A friendship born of high deceit A friendliness of depth and care For those whom we may never meet Our friend, our fellow cacher -Tractordude, 2012 View my other caches>
