...the view from atop Rocky Butte may be impressive, but the view from below is something else entirely. And yet, despite the piles of refuse left behind by cliff dwellers and woodland wanderers, there is still an enduring beauty to this hidden little pocket of nature, and some curious sights along the trail(s)...
Venture beyond the caves of the cliff-dwellers... Take notice of the impossible cliffside wreckage of a joyride gone awry, and the disheveled home of Portland's own King Sisyphus... Here you must descend along the eastern edge,following the path of the cyclone, deep into the oak and ivy groves among the rubbish and the mud...
(...the buddy system is certainly recommended here. There are, among the cliffs, a number of caves and outcroppings which have in the past been utilized by the local homeless contingency. There are apparently a few different points of entry, and certain trails can be steep and/or muddy...Please use caution, and remember to always practice and promote good geokarma.) CITO.
