FURNA
Os madeirenses, apertados entre o Atlântico e as montanhas vulcânicas, tiveram engenho e forças para edificar uma soberba paisagem agrária que ainda se mantém viva sobre lombos, achadas e arribas difíceis de escalar.
The locals, tight between the Atlantic and the volcanic mountains, had wit and strength to build a superb agricultural landscape that still lives on cliffs and moutains that are hard to climb.
A paisagem rural madeirense, escadaria gigantesca de leiras miúdas, deve ser olhada como um monumento erigido por gerações sucessivas, à custa de muito suor e não poucas vezes de sangue e vidas perdidas.
The Madeiran countryside, should be seen as a monument erected by successive generations at the expense of much sweat and often blood and lives lost.
Os poios e as levadas são as mais ricas peças do património cultural da Ilha da Madeira e a expressão viva de como foi possível a intervenção humana sem criar rupturas significativas no funcionamento dos ecossistemas.
The fields and the "levadas" are the richest parts of the cultural heritage of Madeira Island and the living expression of how human intervention was possible without creating significant disruptions in the functioning of ecosystems.
Esta cache leva-nos até um dos sítios mais recônditos da Ilha: a FURNA. Situado a Oeste da Ribeira Brava este sítio é composto por algumas casas, vários terrenos agrícolas, um centro de convívio e uma pequena estrada que serpenteia por entre as casas.
This cache brings us to one of the most remote places on the island: the FURNA. Located west of Ribeira Brava This site consists of some houses, some farmland, a social center and a small road that meanders between houses.

Segue a estrada de terra e nos últimos metros, cria o teu próprio percurso subindo até a cache.
Follow the dirt road and in the last meters, build your own climbing route to the cache.
- A segunda etapa é uma drive-in. Neste sítio terás a oportunidade de desfrutar de uma bela panorâmica.
The second stage is a drive-in. On this site you will have the opportunity to enjoy a fine view.
- Agora volta ao carro e leva-o até às coordenadas indicadas. Uma vez lá, sobes umas escadas e segues as coordenadas finais.
Now back to the car and take it to the given coordinates. Once there climb the stairs and follow the final coordinates.
