I recently submitted a collection of my cache puzzles and an
article about geocaching to my favourite puzzle magazine. I'm
thrilled to announce they have published an eleven page spread of
my work. I'm not allowed to promote the magazine in this cache
listing, so you can read my public profile for specific details.
Anyhow, Sliders is one of the puzzles that was published, and is my
own invention.
SLIDERS
Each grid contains columns of letters. Your job is to slide the
columns of letters up or down in order to spell common English
words reading across each row. When a column slides up, all the
letters move up, in order. The letter that was at the top of the
column wraps around to the bottom of the column. A similar
wraparound occurs when you slide the letters down. Think of it as
similar to revolving the dials on a combination lock. How far to
slide each column, if at all, is up to you to determine. Study this
example to understand the puzzle.
When you have solved all four grids, read the four words whose
first letters are marked with an asterisk. This will give you
directions to the cache hide.
The First to Find prize was a one-year subscription to my
favourite puzzle magazine. If you are a puzzle fan like I am, this
magazine will challenge and entertain you for hours. Happy
solving!
