Geocache Description:

Corsley is a village and civil parish 3 miles west of Warminster. Much of the parish was originally part of the Longleat estate. The present church was built in the 1830s and is one of two Anglican Churches in the area.

The impressive grand old manor house next door was one of four in the area built in the mid 13th century. The manor of Corsley was first granted to Edward Seymour who later leased it to his steward John Thynne. John was later to be granted the manor and indeed lived there between 1563 and 1568 whilst he built Longleat House. After Thynne’s death, his widow, known as Dame Dorothy lived at the manor where she was regularly visited by Carew Raleigh and his brother Sir Walter. Dorothy eventually married Carew.

This is a short and hopefully enjoyable off set cache that shouldn’t take you any more than 15 minutes to complete.
