Geocache Description:

Yo, Dolls and Dads!  Fire up for MOGA 2012!

In its 9th year, MOGA is headed north to the land between the rivers, Io-way!  They say Iowa has a time zone all of its own.  Well, they might be lightin’ up the tilt sign, but we’ll have a blast with it anyway – so set your clocks back 50 or 60 years and get ready to Rock Around the Clock Cache!

MOGA has teamed up with the Iowa Geocachers Organization, the US Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District, Honey Creek Resort State Park, and of course, Groundspeak to make your cruise back in time hit the top of the charts!  The date has been set – April 27, 28, and 29, 2012.  The playing field has been identified – Rathbun Lake, Centerville, IA.  The headquarters has been secured – Honey Creek Resort State Park, Moravia, IA.

The cool cats with the USACE manage 55 square miles of land and water at Rathbun Lake, including over 155 miles of shoreline.  We’re going to make it fat city just for you!  There’s only a couple of handfuls of caches in the area now, but when we’re done, the place will be hoppin’ full of geocache goodness!  We’ve got a team of hipsters who are on the stick to fill the place up!

If you’re keen with MOGA you know it’s the original MEGA competition, and MOGA 2012 has that made in the shade.  But all you big daddies who aren’t into competing will want to make the scene too!  We’ll be placing in the neighborhood of 150 permanent caches, and of all styles – hikers to park-n-grabs, ammo cans to nanos, and special hides just for the kiddos.  You’ll be on Cloud 9 with the poker run, and sister events.

There will be coins and swag.  There will be prizes and drawings.  Word from the bird is we’re even working on something special for you mushroom people to get you really Rockin’ ‘Round the Clock as you race for pinks!  You name it, we’ll have it!  We’re pretty sure that if you split on the 30th of April and didn’t have a blast, you weren’t at MOGA!

MOGA 2011 raised the bar when it comes to digs.  But we ain’t square either, so you’ll flip over the pads we’ve got this time.  Honey Creek Resort State Park has reserved all of their 105 cherry hotel rooms, 28 boss cottages, and 20 top-notch RV sites just for MOGA.  And you know what?  We sold them out!  Every single room is already spoken for by some MOGA nuts.  But this isn’t just a place to pile up some zzs.  No sir!  You will want to bring your whole clan (even the muggle-types!).  There’s an indoor water park at the resort for the cubes who aren’t too keen on running around in the woods – and if you were lucky enough to land a pad at the resort, water park passes are included with your room!  The food at the resort is killer, and we’ve got some unreal meals lined up for not a lot of bread with the registration packets for Saturday.  No sweat if you want to split from the program, the restaurant on-site rocks, and you can go ape with all the diner choices in Centerville, about 20 minutes from MOGA central.

If you were planning to stay at the resort, you'd better have reservations already.  We sold them out in only 4 days!!!  Don't worry, there are plenty of other digs in nearby Centerville and Albia, and some cabin options around the lake.  The Honey Creek State Park (not the resort) has a nice campground, and is the option closest to MOGA Central.  They begin taking reservations 60 days ahead of your stay via the Iowa State Parks website. Stay tuned for more information about that and info on camping at USACE campgrounds just a little longer cruise on the circuit.

We've cut loose with the registration and swag sales, and you won't want to miss out!  If you put a watch on this listing or post a will-attend log, you’ll be in orbit as we get cookin.'  The event is free to attend, but you can bet there is a waiver for you to sign before you head out for all the fun.  Every one of our guests and all of our guests' guests must register on our website and submit a signed waiver!  It’s part of our agreement with the USACE to play in their backyard.  There are also packages for purchase which include some pretty boss swag and meals.  The competitions also have an entry fee to cover the costs associated with them, including the killer prizes.  All of this info is available on our website, www.mogageo.com.

So fire up, lay a patch, and get here flat out!  This place ain’t Nowhere, and during MOGA it’s gonna be straight up Antsville.  Put it on your calendar before you get too much smog in the noggin.  Iron your threads and poodle skirt, brush out your nest, and polish your saddle shoes.  Let’s get Rockin’ ‘Round the Clock
Cache!

Later, Gator!
