ElectriCity está a ser transformada num museu. Enquanto duram as obras, a cache mudou se para passadiços da VIla Real para um lugar com vista privilegiada para a cascata e para a Central do Biel. Venham com tempo e vontade de caminhar, levem máquina fotográfica e estejam preparado para ~1 km de passeio (ir e vir só até esta cache) ou um pouco mais se quiserem percorrer os passadiços inteiros. Para encontrar esta cache, não é preciso sair de passadiço nem trepar nada, a ideia é retirar a cache com pés no passadiço. P.f. levem pequenas pedras para a tapar melhor :) Obrigada :-)

A ElectriCity is being converted into a museum. During the restoration works, the cache is replaced to an alternative location, roughly in the middle of Vila Real walkways, in a position with great view over the waterfall and the Biel powerplant, future museum. Going only to this cache and back requires a ~1km walk, but consider doing the full walkways trail, which will take more.

Vila Real inaugurou no século XIX uma pioneira rede de energia eléctrica, pela mão de Emílio Biel. Em 1894, entrou em funcionamento no Rio Corgo a primeira central hidroeléctrica de serviço público do País (a Central do Biel, também conhecida por Central do Agueirinho), alimentando a rede local de distribuição de electricidade até 1926.Nos anos seguintes, o industrial José Pires Granjo adquiriu e ampliou o edifício (preservando a maior parte dos antigos maquinismos), montou um elevador e instalou no local uma fábrica de curtumes, que viria a funcionar até à década de 1950 (texto tirado da página da Câmara Municipal de Vila Real)
Os edifícios e algumas das máquinas desta central encontram se sempre no seu lugar, embora em estado de degradação.
Neste momento, decorrem obras de renovação deste monumento técnico, com vista a abertura de um museu e preservação para o futuro. O listing desta cache dizia o seguinte:
A cache encontra se junto aos restos da antiga central eléctrica. Existe um trilho que vai para a central, com início á esquerda da casa - antiga estação de elevador perto da Meia Laranja. O trilho é bem visível na primeira parte, mas depois entra uma parte com vegetação. Tenham muito cuidado onde vão por os pês, há muitos buracos pertíssimo do trilho e há sítios onde é possível cair para baixo! Tenham máximo cuidado também nos antigos edifícios!
Para descer para a cache, virem para esquerda no waypoint CASA. Segue a parte mais perigosa do trilho, sem rails ao lado, vão na parte mais esquerda possível.
Para ver as cascatas, podem ir á direita no waypoint CASA. Não se aproximem do muro, porque há também um buraco ao longo deste, de cca 1,5m de largura.
O percurso demora cerca uma hora ou até mais, dependendo de tempo que queriam passar na antiga fábrica.

Vila Real was the first Portuguese city with public electricity network as soon as the end of 19th century. In 1894, the first water power plant, constructed by Emilio Biel on Corgo river at Poço do Aguerinho, started the production of electricity for the public netwrok. In 1926, being replaced by another power plant, this power plant was transformed into leather processing factory by Jose Pires Granjo with most of the machinery left in the place. The factory worked until 1950.

The old power plant buildings and some of the mechanisms remain in the place, however, in advanced state of degradation.
The cache is placed at the old power plant. There is a pathway which leads down to the power plant. It begins on the left side on the house - the former cargo lift station - near the cache Meia Laranja.
The pathway is well visible in the first part but then it has some overgrowth. Be maximally carefull on the pathway, there are holes just next to it and parts without rails with possibility to fall down! Be also maximally careful in the former power plant buildings!
To get to the cache, turn left at the waypoint CASA. The most dangerous part of the pathway follows, stick to the left as possible. You can go to see the waterfall if You turn right at this waypoint. Do not come too close to the wall, there is a deep hole along it some 1,5m broad. The whole trip will take something more than one hour, perhaps 1,5h depending on how much time You spent at the old factory.
