Spring Event - Duluth

This years MnGCA spring event will be held at Chester park, in beautiful Duluth Minnesota. Chester Park is the home of the Chester Bowl ski facility and Chalet, as well as the scenic Chester Park Trail. Your 2011 event committee is working hard to make this a memorable event for geocachers of all levels. Come see what Duluth caching is all about. See you there!


When: Saturday, June 4th, 2011 - 9:30am until 5:00pm

Who: The MnGCA is here for you. Our events are open to anyone interested in the sport of geocaching. Whether you're a newbie or a seasoned professional, you are welcome to join the fun. Our members are always ready and willing to help anyone who is interested in enjoying this wonderful sport.

Activities: Plan on a full day of activities for young and old and everyone in between. The event committee is planning a day of fun, education, and a little bit of socializing as you seek your favorite containers hidden all about. Cost: Parking FREE!, Entrance FREE!, Lunch FREE! (The MnGCA will provide burgers and hot dogs free of charge, but would appreciate if folks are willing to bring a potluck food offering to share)

Check-In and Meet & Greet
At check-in be sure to:
1) Pick up your "Game Sheets" and Instructions
2) Get coordinates for kid caches

3) Name Tag
4) Sign the Event Log

Geocaching Bingo
Pick up your "BINGO Game Sheet" when you check in, then enjoy the day as you seek cachers who have what it takes to sign your card. All BINGO's turned in by 1:30 will be included in the prize drawing.

Creative Cache Contest
Bring your most creative cache and drop it off on the table when you arrive, then wait for the votes to be tallied to see if you are a winner. All attendees are encouraged to vote for their favorite creative cache!

Guess what's hiding in the camo'd peanut butter jar! Enter your guess and you might win a fabulous prize!

FTF Hangman Game
(N _ _ _ _._ _ _ W _ _ _ _ _._ _ _ ) a number will be added each 1/2 hour to the N or W coordinates which will reveal the cache’s coordinates. The first person industrious enough to figure out where we hid the cache can claim the FTF prize inside

Geocaching?
If you are new to caching and need help let us know. We want to help you enjoy the game as much as we do. This will be a great opportunity for you to ask questions about geocaching, the MnGCA, Groundspeak, GPSr's and more. If we don't have the answer to your question, we probably know who does.

No GPS, No Problem - We will find you a buddy to show you how the game is played.
(If you're willing to be a buddy, please let us know when you sign in).

Turkey Shoot
Come take a shot at a cool prize as you show off your GPS skills by placing your marker as close to Ground Zero as possible. The coordinates for GZ will be posted at 11:00pm, and the winner will be determined at 1:00pm.

Kick the Bean Can
Here is your chance to show off your kicking skills. We've got the "Foot Wear", all you need to do is kick the can and have it land closest to the flag and you win!

LUNCH:
The MnGCA will provide burgers and hot dogs free of charge, but would appreciate if folks are willing to bring a potluck food offering to share.
Please help us with lunch by bringing and sharing potluck style. If your caching name starts with the letters:

A through E - please bring Appetizers/Munchies
F through N - please bring salads/soups/stews
O through T - please bring Desserts
U through Z- please bring Beverages

Individual Timed Event
There's no way to get them all, but how many can you get? The event will be a staggered start at noon, and everyone will have an hour and a half to return.

Come learn about the organization and what we are doing to support and improve Minnesota Geocaching. Here is your chance to participate in an open discussion with the MnGCA membership and board of directors.

Put on your CITO hat and help us leave the park just a little nicer than we found it. Any clean up help is appreciated.
