Geocache Description:

This cache is one of the many caches placed for the Hides of March Event. The cache is not at the posted coords. They are, however, a good place to park for getting to the cache.

The Rubik's Cube has been a fun game for all to play for many years. With it's simple concept and intriguing design, it has captured the imagination of young and old. Now you will put your cube solving brains to the test by solving the Rubik's Cube on this page to get the coords for the cache.

How are we going to do this, you ask? Well, displaying the cube in 3D is a bit difficult in this format so we are going to "unfold" it into a 2D format which may or may not help matters. Unlike the one above, our Rubik's Cube starts off with yellow towards us, blue to the left, green to right, red on top, white in the back and orange on the bottom. We will "unfold" the front (yellow) side towards us. Now we will "unfold" the left (green) and right (blue) to their respective sides. And finally we "unfold" the back (white) and top (red) away from us so it looks something like this:

The picture above is a view from the top looking down. Please note that when folded back up points C and E would touch, A, H and L would touch, B,M and K would touch and D and G would touch. Please keep this in mind as it may get hard to keep everything lined up when you rotate a section. Also please note my misspelling of bottom.

Below is a picture of it partially open.

Now I am going to place grid numbers on each of the squares, each one relating to a color and it's position, ie R1 or O8. These references, as you will see later, are where you will get the information from for the coords. The references are the position of the information after the cube has been solved. The following are the reference points to gather the info from once the cube is solved.

Now comes the actual puzzle. Below is the mixed up Rubik's Cube with some letters on each of the squares. First you will have to solve the cube by getting all the colors together on each of the sides. THERE ARE ONLY 3 MOVES TO GET THE CUBE BACK TO NORMAL. You will have to visualize this 2D as a 3D to work it out. You may want to print out a few of the flattened out images and fold them up to help you out. Remember only 3 moves needed. Once the cube is solved look below for the order of the grid references to get the coords. Good Luck and good caching. See you at the event.

Coords format is
N 43 W1 B6 Y2 R5 . O1 R6 O9 G7 R1 O5 R8
W 080 B3 W9 Y7 . B1 O4 R3 G9 B9 O7 W2 Y9
