Geocache Description:

The location of this 007 cache is on the Hereward Way national trail (OS Explorer Map 227) which runs alongside the River Nene and under the Nene Valley Railway Bridge. Easy access on paved cycle/footpath from Ferry Meadows Country Park, with the last 10 meters down a slight gradient which is an unpaved track to the GZ.

Access from Ferry Hill or Alwalton along the trail can be muddy, but it is a good walk along the river all the same. So if you look at the parking areas, you have four ways to get at this one.

The bridge was used in the James Bond film Octopussy in 1983 which I saw being filmed at the time from a class room in a school tower block which at the time looked out towards the Nene Valley line. A helicopter was flying up and down which caught our attention more than the maths lesson.
The bridge is the scene where 007 has driven the car on the tracks to give chase when a steam engine coming the other way hits the car and sends it flying into the river Nene, smashing a fisherman’s boat in the process.

007 cache is a 4”long clear tube with just a log sheet in side so please bring pen/pencil and something to lean on. Don’t worry this cache will not self destruct when found, that is another series of films entirely. Good luck, good hunting and remember you only have a licence to seek and find.

Take care if you are crossing the railway line as the cycle/footpath from Ferry Meadows does cross it. Read the warning signs and have a care around water.

WARNING!! Ferry Meadows now charge for parking every day, I just checked on the cache 29/3/16 and it cost me £2 for 30mins the machines don't give change.

THIS CACHE IS NOT ON THE BRIDGE OR UNDER THE BRIDGE, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN ANYTHING THAT HAS CABLES RUNNING INTO IT.

Please log did not find then let me know if you want a hint.
