Please join us at Sage Hen Reservoir for
Camp N' Cache 8 ~ Never to Late

Sage Hen has great trout fishing in the reservoir from shore or from small boats. Several hiking trails near the campground including short Nature Trail loop and Fisherman`s Trail through the campground along the reservoir. Trails that stretch up to the great views from the mountaintops are additionally open to biking, horse riding, and ATV riding. There is also hunting for big game in season and berry picking in summer.

Clear out a patch of ground and call it yours. If you need a table, you might want to bring one as there are NO FACILITIES AT THE CAMP SPOT. This is a DRY CAMP so you will need to pack in and out everything you need for the weekend. This is also disperse camping so there is no way to reserve a spot or guarantee that the location is not taken before we arrive. Every effort will be made to try and secure the area before the event.

This area has lots of endless roads and trails for your daily excursions and for those that have never been to the area you will not regret this trip.

Directions from Horseshoe Bend:
Take ID 52, 9 miles west to the junction with the Sweet/Ola highway. Turn north and travel 16 miles to Ola. Travel north through Ola and follow the signs 18 miles to Sagehen Reservoir. Paved road turns to gravel a few miles noth of Ola.

The planned events will be as follows:

  • Friday, July 15th:

Caching according to your equipment, individual plans and desires to earn IGO Bucks for the auction. There will be a "Meet and Greet" hour from 8:00 to 9:00 PM at the Central Gathering Area. Come and meet your fellow geocachers and receive your CNC 8 packet.

  • Saturday, July 16th:

Caching according to your equipment, individual plans and desires to earn IGO Bucks for the auction. No special functions are planned, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN FOR THE DAY. Only caches found Friday and Saturday will count for IGO Bucks and you are trusted to report correct information. Cache sheets MUST be turned into an Event Host by 6:00 PM on Saturday, so that your IGO Bucks earnings can be calculated.

The auction will begin at 7:00 PM at the central gathering place . Please bring one camping/caching related item per geocaching name to donate to the auction event. Donations are required to participate in the IGO Auction and the IGO Bucks payout. Items at the past auctions have included: Dutch Ovens, walking sticks, backpacks, headlamps, compasses, Dutch Oven cookbooks, geocoins, etc..

Special Note-IGO Bucks will be distributed according to a complex proprietary matrix of caches visited on Friday and Saturday. Caches found before Friday will need to be revisited in order to claim them for IGO Bucks. Score sheets will be handed out at the "Meet and Greet" on Friday night so it will be wise to keep track of caches hit on Friday before getting your score sheet. Also you are on Cachers honor on recording your finds.

***PLEASE ALSO bring one item to donate to the Community Cache as well.****

  • Sunday, July 17th:

A potluck brunch will be held at the Central Gathering Area at 10:00 AM SHARP. Please bring an entrée or dessert for the potluck. All Dutch Oven dishes will be placed in the running for the "Dutch Oven Cook-Off". There will be a special prize for the Dutch Oven dish deemed the "Most Delicious". Bring your best Dutch Oven dish.

Plan on bringing FRS radios to communicate with your party. The group will monitor channel 2 and 12 (no squelch codes) as usual.

Everyone should be prepared to encounter wildlife (deer, elk, bear, wolf, mountain lions & etc.), rapidly changing weather, and should have the basic safety gear to get themselves and their equipment in and out of the woods. You will also need appropriate chemicals, clothes and wilderness techniques to avoid mosquitoes and ticks.

This Event will take place regardless of weather. This is outside the control of the Event Hosts. So we will just make the best of it, as always.

Please watch this page for important information and any changes that may occur before the event.
