e pluribus duo Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

tachoknight: Well, it looks like it's time to call it a day on this cache; the box that hid the container is long gone and my attempts to come up with a replacement location were for naught.<br/>
<br/>
Thanks to the folks at the Friday Lunch Club who were so cool about posing both as a group and individually for the puzzle. It was one of my first events and it was great that the first reaction to a new cacher showing up with a camera asking to take pictures was "Where do you want us to stand?"<br/>
<br/>
For those who might want to do something like this, the puzzle used <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steganography">steganography</a>, which was used by a cache in Canada that Tzinny showed me; I later discovered another one in Sweden and as far as I could tell, there was a period of time when there may only have been three, including this one, steganography puzzles, total. Kinda cool!<br/>
<br/>
For anyone who wants to see what the "final" looks like, here's <a href="https://dl.dropbox.com/u/13278090/hidden.png">the final</a>.
<br/>
<br/>
A special thanks to Tzinny who maintained the actual cache; when asked to confirm a particular hiding spot, I always had to defer to him as he maintained it and up till just a few months ago, had never actually been. <br/>
<br/>
And thanks to all the folks who found it; congratulations to everyone!

Geocache Description:

Cache is not at posted coordinates.

Hey, does anyone know where the cache is?

Dec 2011 change: Because the original spot is no longer available, the final is now located 50' east from the original final, then 40' north. I've upp'ed the terrain rating to accomodate this additional waypoint.

Congratulations to early19713, Sheepdog, n9tog, IrishCubsFan and mgbmusic for teaming up and getting the FTF!

It's come to my attention that, depending on different circumstances, the image may be modified while being saved. If it somehow gets saved as a jpeg, then the saved copy is definitely modified and the "solution" will be incorrect.
If there is any question, please send me a message and I'll try to help you out; this was meant to be a technically challenging, but fun puzzle, not an exercise in frustration.
The MD5 checksum of the image is 248184624f42b0e24127b84bcd70b652.
