Den Pi je svatek pripominajici matematickou konstantu Pi. Den Pi se slavi 14. brezna, protoze 3, 1 a 4 jsou nejvyznamejsi cislice z cisla Pi v desitkove podobe.
Den Pi zalozil Larry Shaw v roce 1988.
Cislo Pi
Pi je matematicka konstanta, ktera udava pomer obvodu jakehokoli kruhu k jeho prumeru. Jeji hodnota v desitkove soustave je priblizne 3,14159265. Mnoho matematickych, vedeckych a inzenyrskych rovnic obsahuje Pi, coz z nej dela jednu z nejdulezitejsich matematickych konstant. Pi je iracionalni cislo, coz znamena, ze nemuze byt vyjadreno zlomkem m/n, kde m a n jsou cela cisla. To take znamena, ze jej nelze vyjadrit konecnym zpusobem v desitkove soustave, a to ani pomoci periody.
