W drodze do Ostrołęki, w okolicach Sierzput Mlodych, znajduje sie jeden z wielu cmentarzy niemieckich, wierny świadek toczonych tutaj cieżkich walk w czasie I Wojny Światowej. Cmentarz zadbany i ogrodzony.
Po przegranej przez Rosjan bitwie pod Tannenbergiem w sierpniu 1914 roku front w ciagu jesieni stopniowo przesuwal sie na poludnie. Zima dzialania wojenne przeniosly sie na kurpiowszczyzne i pólnocne mazowsze. Tutaj wojska obu stron przeszły na dłuższy czas do defensywy, zajmujac pozycje mniej wiecej na lini Wach – Brodowe Laki – Jednorozec - Pszasnysz.
Dzialania na wieksza skale wznowiono dopiero latem 1915 roku. W dniach 13 – 14 lipca 1915 wojska niemieckie przelamaly w bardzo ciezkich walkach front po obu stronach Pszasnysza. Ogólny kierunek dalszego natarcia prowadzil w kierunku Rózana i dalej na Siedlce. 19 lipca 1915 pierwsze oddzialy wojsk pruskich doszly do lini rzeki Narwii. Tu natrafily na doskonale przygotowanych do obrony Rosjan. Wykonali oni pas umocnien polowych wzdluz rzeki, a takze umocnili sie na przyczólkach pod Rózanem, Pultuskiem i Ostroleka na prawym brzegu Narwii. Rejon ten stal sie widownia bardzo ciezkich i krwawych walk.
W walkach tych zginelo bardzo wielu zolnierzy obu stron. Czesc z nich pochowano na zakladanych przez specjalne jednostki wojskowe cmentarzach wojennych, wielu pochowala takze w masowych grobach ludnosc okolicznych miejscowosci. Z powodu upalnego lata prace te prowadzono w pospiechu w obawie przed wybuchem epidemii.

On the way to Ostroleka, just in the vicinity of Lomza close to Sierzputy Mlode, there is one of the many German cemeteries, the faithful witness of heavy battles fought here during the First World War. Cemetery is well maintained and fenced.
After losing the battle of Tannenberg by Russians in August 1914 the front, during the autumn, was moving gradually to the south. In winter, the war spilled over into northern Mazowsze and Kurpie. Here the troops of both sides went for a long time on the defensive, taking positions more or less on line Wach - Brodowe Laki - Jednorozec - Pszasnysz.
Action resumed on a larger scale in the summer of 1915. As on 13 - July 14, 1915 German troops broke in very heavy fighting on both sides of the front close to Pszasnysz. The general direction of further attack led in the direction of Rose and continue to Siedlce. July 19, 1915, the troops of the Prussian army came to the line of the river Narwii. Here they ran into perfectly prepared to defend Russians. They have done a strip of field fortifications along the river, and also strengthened on the abutments of Rózan, Pultusk and Ostrolenka, on the right bank of Narw. This area became a scene of very heavy and bloody fighting.
In these fights very many soldiers died on both sides. Some of them were buried on the assumed by a special military units, military cemeteries, many buried in mass graves and many were buried by the people of neighboring towns. Because of the hot summer, these works were carried out in a hurry for fear of outbreak of epidemics.
