Geocache Description:

These gardens, along with the chapel are all that is left of the first English Franciscan Friary built in the years following the arrival of the first friars in 1224. It grew to be a considerable monastery but was dissolved in 1538 under the orders of King Henry VIII. The Brothers were banished but the Franciscans returned some 430 years later.
This cache has been placed with the kind permission of the Franciscan Friars.

The above coordinates are for the entrance to these gardens. The coordinates for the actual cache location can be found in the log books of 'A walk in the park #1' and 'A walk in the park #2'.
All you have to show for your efforts is a tiny, pen lid sized black container with a log book, (the original bigger one having been muggled fairly quickly), but the real reward is in finding such a peaceful place so close to the High Street.

The published opening hours are 10am - 5pm.
The chapel is open 2-4, Monday -Saturday, from Easter Monday to the end of September
