Zamek:
Pierwsze wzmianki o zamku siegaja poczatków XIV
w., jednak wtedy byla to juz znacznych rozmiarów budowla. Badania
archeologiczne wykazaly istnienie w tym miejscu innych kamiennych a
takze drewnianych budowli - najprawdopodobniej istniala tu juz
warownia przed powstaniem panstwa polskiego.
wojska Rakoczego, wskutek czego podupadl. W XVIII w. na zamku
przypadkowo odnaleziono skarb - garnek z monetami i
kosztownosciami. Dalo to poczatek dalszemu poszukiwaniu skarbów i
dewastowaniu warowni. Niedlugo pózniej zamek zostal opuszczony i
popadl w calkowita ruine. Kamien z ruin zamkowych byl
wykorzystywany do budowy okolicznych domów i kosciola. W XIX u
podnóza zamku dzialal kamieniolom, który przyczynil sie do dalszych
zniszczen. Dopiero od poczatku XX w. rozpoczeto prace
archeologiczne i konserwatorskie. W koncu w 1964 r. odbudowano
resztki zamku i otwarto dzialajace tam po dzis dzien muzeum.
Muzeum zamkowe mozna zwiedzac od 1 kwietnia do 31 pazdziernika w
godzinach 10.00-16.00 (w poniedzialki nieczynne!). Obok muzeum
znajduje sie takze skansen budownictwa wiejskiego. W okolicy
zachowane sa takze fragmenty murów miejskich.

The castle:
The 1st mention about the castle is from the
beginning of 14. century, but at that time it was a quite big
structure. An archaeological research revealed that some other
stone and wooden structures existed before at this spot - most
probably there was a fortified structure before Poland was
established as a country.
It is known that the castle was visited by Polish kings like
Wladyslaw Lokietek or Wladyslaw Jagiello. The sons of king
Kazimierz Jagiellonczyk were receiving their education in this
castle. In 17. century the castle was at its best condition, there
were over 70 rooms. At the turn of 17. and 18. centuries the castle
was besieged by Swedes and Rakoczy's army and fell into decline. In
18. century a treasure was found by accident - this was a pot with
coins and jewellery. After that event, people started looking for
more treasures and that was the beginning of the castle
devastation. Not long after, the castle was abandoned and
completely fell into a ruin. Stone from the ruin of the castle was
used in constrution of the neighbouring houses and a church. In 19.
century under the castle there was a quarry, which caused even more
devastation. At the beginning of 20. century archaeological
research and renovation started. Finally, in 1964 remains of the
castle were rebuilt and a museum was opened.
You can visit the castle museum from 1 April to 32 October between
10.00 am - 4.00 pm (Closed on Mondays!). Near the museum there is a
heritage park of village buildings. Remains of city walls are
nearby.
