ABC - Crossroads Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Deceangi: Rather than keep this cache temporarily disabled (which should only be used for shortish periods) I'm archiving it. If/when the cache is ever replaced I'll gladly unarchive it assuming it still meets the guidelines.

Please Note! Six months from the date of the Listing being Archived, is the maximum period, in which this Listing will be eligible to be considered for Unarchiving

Please avoid geolitter by removing any remaining traces of your cache or contact a local cacher to do so for you. If you are having difficulty doing so then please contact me via my profile and I will try to get someone to assist. This is particularly important if your cache appears to contain Travelbugs or Geocoins.

Geocache Description:

Located on the main road into Awsworth from the south.
Parking is available in the Gardeners Inn (very close to GZ) for a quick cache and dash. The cache is accessible for wheelchair users.

ABC stands for Awsworth, Babbington & Cossall and I have created an ABC group of 7 caches (5 in Awsworth & 2 in Cossall) of varying sizes to show everyone the beauty of our area.
If you are doing the whole series, i would start with ABC - The Rec (GC418CT) for Parking, then ABC - Crossroads (GC2NP65), then ABC - Walk This Way (GC2NXTR), then ABC - Rock On Tommy (GC2NXTG), then ABC - Under The Boardwalk (GC2NXR9), then ABC - Sweetshop (GC2X08W) and finishing off with ABC - Branching Out (GC4180A). You could include GC24Q4F by Madforit, GCM09N & GCTVPY by O2J and GC19HWQ by Uncle Mouldy to make a bigger walk around all 3 villages.

The pretty little village of Awsworth (Population 2,455) enjoys unspoilt views over the Erewash Valley and the now disused Bennerley Viaduct. Built in 1879 the unique lattice wrought iron bridge construction is 500 yards long and links Awsworth to Ilkeston.
Part of the Nottingham Canal in Awsworth has been renovated and is managed as a fishery and leased by the Cossall and Awsworth Angling Club.
A new bypass road was completed in 1996 much to the delight of the villagers and Awsworth can return to the quieter days of old.
St Peter's Church, Main Street, is an unusually designed parish church and is constructed of brick with stone dressings. It was virtually rebuilt in 1900 and it still retains a chancel dated 1746 with a Gothic-style east window.

This is my first cache and is very easy to find.
It is a Magnetic Nano (which was black to start with, but is now silver), and only contains a logbook, so please take your own pen or pencil and only initial & date please.
Happy Caching !!!
***Remember this is magnetic and so will only stick to Steel (not aluminium) which is why sometimes it is found on the floor, because only some parts of the sign are steel!!!! ***
*** Congratulations to DRINGSTER for First To Find***
