Geocache Description:

Find Professor Plum's cache and collect evidence in the case of Dr Black's murder. Use your detective skills to discover the killer, the murder weapon and the crime scene and then locate the missing body (GC2NN3T) to bring the culprit to justice. This cache will test your skills of logical deduction and reasoning.

There's foul play on the Herts-Beds border and you have been called in to investigate the suspected murder of Dr Black, owner of Tudor Mansion. It's only suspected because we cannot find the body! Dr Black invited six guests for the weekend and some time very early on Sunday morning the host disappeared. His guests all fled the house; each with a guilty conscience ... but only one was responsible for Dr Black's disappearance.

You are Inspector Cluedo and your challenge is to solve the crime and find the body. Each of the suspects has hidden their potentially incriminating evidence in a cache on familiar ground where they feel safe. Visit each cache and inspect the evidence you find. There will be three cards in each to enable you to eliminate suspects, weapons or locations from your enquiries. When you have the solution visit Inspector Cluedo: Dr Black for the final stage instructions. Good Luck, Inspector, because each cache will test a different detection skill.

Flitton is named from the river Flit which flows nearby. This quiet Bedfordshire village boasts a pretty, 15th century, ironstone church, adjacent to which is the Grade I listed De Grey Mausoleum - last resting place of the lords of the manor of nearby Wrest Park. (Definitely also worth a visit whilst you are in the area.) Both are in the care of English Heritage. The telephone box at the centre of the village, next to the village sign, was recently bought by the Parish Council for £1 and shelves have been erected with a view to a book swap facility, which became available in April 2012. Visitors to the area can also experience good food at the nearby pub.

Professor Plum is a world-renowned expert on archaeology. Having written several published papers on sepulchral chapels, he is very familiar with the De Grey Mausoleum and the locality of Flitton. It is believed that his evidence cache is nearby.

The academic is also a fan of games and puzzles and a piece of paper in the professor's handwriting has been retrieved from the Dining Room of Tudor Mansion. On Saturday afternoon, five of Dr Black's guests played a game of croquet on the mansion's lush lawn. Professor Plum kept the score, but occupied his mind by wrapping up the results in a puzzle. He used information gathered over lunch to hide the scores in a logic problem inscribed on the recovered scrap.

Use the puzzler's clues to work out each guest's position after the croquet game as well as what each ate for lunch and where they prefer to hide micro-caches. (Yes, the guests are all geocachers!) It is thought that Professor Plum used the winner's preferred micro hide location and placed stage 1 of a multi-cache in such a place in the centre of Flitton. Inside the micro are the coordinates for the final cache, but make sure you have solved the logic puzzle completely and take it with you!

  1. Miss Scarlett was the best at croquet but she doesn’t like Ham.
  2. Mrs Peacock loves to hide micro caches in trees and has a fish allergy.
  3. The person who ate the salad got third place in the croquet.  Mrs White, who hides magnetic nanos on road signs did not have the Ham.
  4. The soup was eaten by the person who likes to stick caches to the back of telephone boxes.
  5. Colonel Mustard avoids hiding caches on brick walls.
  6. The post box cache hider placed one higher than the salmon-eater but two lower than Mrs White.

The coordinates at the top of the page are for the centre of Flitton village, where several likely hiding places for Professor Plum's first stage micro are situated. Please search respectfully in this lovely spot as it is the centrepiece of the village.

The final cache is a plastic 0.33l lock & lock box holding a personal item belonging to Professor Plum, three cards to advance your enquiries and an access code on the lid to use the Inspector Cluedo Suggestion Site. Please leave all evidence in the cache for the next detective and hide the cache exactly as you found it. Please note that there is water nearby and a busy road, so please keep an eye on children and animals. Stay Safe!

Update May 2016: Please be respectful of the new plantings near GZ.
