What is this all about?
Cache In Trash Out is an ongoing environmental initiative supported
by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers have
been dedicated to cleaning up parks and other cache-friendly places
around the world. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve
the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!
Annually, we celebrate International Cache In Trash Out events
where geocachers have an opportunity to participate in coordinated
worldwide clean-up efforts. Geocachers host clean-up events in
their local area on the same day or weekend as other geocachers
around the world. Together, we make an enormous positive impact.
Did we mention that we also have a bit of fun while we are at
it?
The 9th Annual Cache In Trash Out Events are scheduled for April
30th & May 1st, 2011.
Where?
This event will be held at Den Rock Park in South Lawrence. The
coordinates listed will bring you to this area
More info:
1) We will have bottled water available at the event.
2) Awards will be given for the following categories:
- Most unusual item found
- Youngest cacher (Must actually
participate in the cleanup)
- Farthest travelled
3) We will be putting together a traditional cache to commemorate
the event. A temporary container with a log book will be placed
ahead of time so that you may find it right after the event if you
wish. Those who participate in the event can sign the permanent
container, and add a bit of swag to the container. Signing the
container, does not count as a find. You must actually find either
the temporary container, or the permanent one once placed at the
posted coordinates.
4) This is an OUTSIDE event. Dress accordingly. The event will be
held rain or shine.
5) The following donations are requested:
- First Aid Kit
- Gloves
- Trash Bags
- Snacks
- Drinks
- Large Hand Sanitizer Pump
- Paper Towels (2 rolls)
- An additional folding table
Please let me know what you will be bringing in your 'Will Attend'
note so I can make sure everything is covered. Please feel free to
bring some swag to add to the commemorative cache as
well!
Hope to see you
there!
Special thanks to
Froedo Bagginz for offering to haul the metal and other automotive
parts out of the park!
