The chapel, which was a small, low brick building with minimal decoration and mostly plain windows, was opened in 1878 in an area of the parish of Iping that was only enclosed in the late 18th Century. The chapel never widely used and it was closed in 1977. Some sources say that it was vandalised after it was closed whilst others say it closed because of it. In 1980 the chapel was declared redundant subsequently demolished in April 1981. The burial ground remains.
