Geocache Description:

Every time I drive through Waroona I spot the sign reading "Wetland Walk" and think to myself "must have a look at that, might be a good spot for a cache. I finally found myself near Waroona with some time to spare, so I took a walk and placed a cache.

Due to the temporary nature of pens and pencils in my geocaches
BRING YOUR OWN WRITING IMPLEMENT!!!

The cache is not at the above location, but it is where you will find some of the information needed to find the cache. I've also included waypoints to turn off the Southwest Highway and off Cornucopia Street, and for the parking spot at the trailhead. The track to that parking area is a bit overgrown with shrubbery, and the approach could be 4WD only at times, so use your own judgement whether to save a bit over 100 metres walk - I use the parking area for "hide my vehicle" reasons.

Park at the parking area then follow the trail towards the bird shelter. Along the way you will some information signs.

The start point is a sign at the posted coords. Here you will find information about two types of a common plant. A = the second word of the type which is NOT illustrated on the sign.

Waypoint 2 is a sign at S32°52.268' E115°55.402'. Here you will find information about a common type of tree. B = the first word of the scientific name of the tree.

Waypoint 3 is a sign at S32°52.242' E115°55.439'. Here you will find information about two species of bird. C = the four letter common name of the birds.

Waypoint 4 is a shelter at S32°52.238' E115°55.504'. Here you will find two signs, one of which includes a large number of birds. D = the second word of the second bird in the second row.

Using the code A=1, B=2, ...Z=26, add the values of each word to get a three or two digit number. The total value of all words you have gathered is 388, if you don't have this value you need to check your calculations and if necessary revisit one or more waypoints.

Assign the values of those words as follows:
A = QRS, B = TU, C = VW, D = FYZ.

The cache can be found at S32°52.S(Q+R)(W-Z)' E115°55.(Y-S)X(T-U)'

The cache is now a drab camo'd round screw top 1 kg fruit container, with log book, finders cards, pencils, sharpener, and a small selection of swaps. The plastic container is inside a drab camo'd open ended Milo tin. The tin is only to protect against fire and sun damage.

I have left the cache with a small part of the tin visible, the tin angled downward, the plastic container angled upward with lid uppermost inside the tin. Please replace it that way.

This cache is now part of GC1QYV5 WanAus 89 - Roaming Western Australia, replacing the archived cache GC1QVEY WanAus 87 - Boddington Gun Barrels. There is an RWA number in the back of the log book. This number MUST be recorded as 87n, not 187n. To change the number required to 187n would change the sequence of all other numbers, making a solution by earlier part finders of GC1QYV5 WanAus 89 - Roaming Western Australia almost impossible.

This is just a suggestion, but it may help you to keep track of the RWA numbers.
Every cache page has "*Personal Cache Note" *Click to enter a note, just above Geocache Description:
You could either add the code to each individual cache, or add all numbers to GC1QYV5 WanAus 89 - Roaming Western Australia.

When trading items please consider trading up or trading even and leaving items that you would want to find, and please don't take the pen, pencils or sharpener. If you can't trade up or trade even I don't mind seeing TNLNSL in the log. Also please don't put the pen or pencils in the log book bag, it tends to destroy the watertight integrity.

Trackables (geocoins and travel bugs) are not tradeable items. Please feel free to take them without making a trade, but please leave a note in the logbook and your online log, and do log them online.

If you are heading out to hunt down some of my more remote GC1QYV5 WanAus 89 - Roaming Western Australia or GC29MXD WanAus 179 - Discover Western Australia caches, where the cache density is very low, why not consider taking a few prepared containers with you, stocked with log book and swaps etc, and when you spot one of those places that make you think "that would be a good place for a cache", place one of your own. Just check that there isn't a cache within 160 metres, and please don't place a micro in the bush where you could easily conceal an ammo box or Milo tin.
