Not to be confused with the street called "Cathedral View" in Westborough, this cache is hidden at a location which offers a great view of Guildford Cathedral, plus much more.
Before I go any further, can I warn you: 'NO PARKING BY THE CACHE!' Recent changes (controversial) in the area mean you can no longer drive unauthorised vehicles onto 'Bridleway 14'. That's beyond the top of The Mount, where the road begins to level out. (Don't be confused by the fact that it's still Tarmac road!)
There are 2-hour parking bays available on The Mount, Mountside or Wodeland Avenue. Alternatively, it's a wonderful walk up the hill from Guildford Town Centre! Whatever you do, please ensure you park legally, and considerately.
Now we've got that out of the way, assuming you CAN get yourself to this location on foot, you'll find it's a wonderful view from here, across North Guildford and beyond. From left to right, sights include the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Bagshot Heath transmitter tower, the new grandstand at Ascot Racecourse, Woking town centre then Heathrow Airport. After that, there's Wembley Stadium arch, central London buildings (including Telecom Tower, the 'Gherkin', Tower 42, and the newly-completed Shard), then on to Canary Wharf. (Oh, not forgetting Guildford Cathedral too...)
Although it's a relatively quiet area, stealth may be required. There are usually a number of people around (sightseers, dog-walkers etc.) If you decide to attempt it at night, the view can be spectacular, but be aware that the 'clientelle' in the area may be a little different.
The cache is a small black clip-top box with a log book and pencil and is suitable for taking small TBs. I also loaded it with a few other items - a glow-in-the-dark whistle, some badges, an old British Telecom 'seasonal' phonecard, and a comb. (Well, I don't really use combs any more; there's not much on top that needs one...) Well done to the FTF king himself - mashworth - on being first to find within an hour of publication.
Please replace cache as found, and well hidden. Enjoy!
Oh, and one final word of warning. Remember it's a dog-walker's paradise, so be careful where you tread. When I placed the cache, I wasn't....
