Geocache Description:

Party at the Moon Tower #15
Zilker Park

Once a popular form of lighting in the US and Europe, Austin is now home to the only remaining moonlight towers in the world. Between 1894 and 1895 there were 31 moon towers erected in Austin. The original carbon arc lamps used illuminated a circle approximately 3,000 feet in diameter with a blue-white light (The towers now use 6,400-watt mercury vapor bulbs). Sadly, just 15 moon towers remain today. They are now designated as official state archeological landmarks and are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

This tower used to be a replica. At some point it was rebuilt as an "authentic" tower using parts from other torn down towers. As most Austinites know, this tower is decorated as a giant Christmas tree during the holiday season (as part of the Trail of Lights).

Bring your own pen!! Big enough for some trade items and coins. At times there are LOTS OF MUGGLERS. Please USE STEALTH.

BONUS! If you have found all the Moon Tower caches (there are 15) then claim an extra smiley!

EDIT: Cache was muggled and has been moved. Container is very different and way cooler.

Congrads hexumshex and slumlore! FTF!
