This is one of a series of 8 caches which take you on a clockwise circular walk starting and finishing in the village of Mendham in the beautiful Waveney Valley. The walk spans Norfolk and Suffolk because the river here is the county border. In the interests of symmetry there are 4 caches in Norfolk and 4 in Suffolk! Pub-based refreshments are available in both Mendham and about half way round the walk in the village of Wortwell.
There is a convenient car park right in the centre of Mendham village.
The valley here has been named the Otter Vale so maybe you’ll even be lucky enough to see one of these amazing creatures on your walk. Even if you don’t you’ll hopefully appreciate the scenery in this beautiful part of the Waveney Valley. Part of the walk is also along the Angles Way a long distance footpath linking the Brecks with the Broads. In winter I would strongly recommend walking boots as some sections of the walk are low lying and liable to getting a bit soggy.
I’ve tried to make each cache different from all the others to provide a variety of challenges to keep you entertained on the walk. All are micros/nanos with only #5, #7 and #8 being suitable for the small style geocoins. No room for swaps I’m afraid so these may not appeal to children. Please also bring your own pen. At the time of placing I put small geocoins in the 3 caches mentioned above.
This area doesn’t have many other caches at all but my other series Starston Stumble is just the other side of the town of Harleston if you’re feeling energetic!
