Geocache Description:

Yorkley is a large village situated 2.5 miles north of Lydney and just under 8 miles south of Cinderford. The village sits on top of a hill at 600ft above sea level, giving panoramic views of the Severn and the Cotswold Hills. To the North the village is bounded by forest and to the south by agricultural land. Yorkley is also where I grew up and lived in a house overlooking Captains Green. This cache is no 1 of 10 in a circular walk around Yorkley.

Yorkley Circular, or the ramblings of a confused Forest Bore, has been designed as a gentle forest stroll which has places of interest, good paths and ample parking places. The walk is designed as a pick and mix selection; something us older cachers tend to enjoy, and is accessible to most. The main (free) parking place is accross from the entrance to Mallards Pike, at N51 46.615 W002 31.604. You could also pay for parking at Mallards Pike itself and use their facilities (there is another cache placed at this site). The whole circular walk is about 3 miles and can be done easily in 2 hours. Cache number 1 is a small camo clip lock box with room for small swaps and geo coins. Thanks to the Forestry Commission for their permission to place all these caches.
