Geocache Description:

The cache is located in the heart of Toronto’s downtown. This area is full of tourists year round who are attracted to the entertainment of Dundas Square and shopping at largest mall in Eastern Canada. The cache is a part of the series, “Around Toronto - Exploring the City” (GC2MAV5), a mystery cache whose coordinates are found in 4 traditional caches located at famous Toronto sites. The required coordinate is located at the top of the logbook.

Dundas Square is full of activity, from concerts and movies to street festivals and art exhibits there is always something to see. The mall is the 3rd largest mall in Canada and has around one million visitors per week. Making it the top tourist attraction in Toronto and says a lot about the culture which we live in. The history of the mall is one of rags to riches where early in the 19th Centruy a man named Timothy Eaton founded a dry goods store on Yonge Street. He went through hard times but never gave up on his dreams and took that small shop and created an empire which went on to revolutionize retailing in Canada and became the anchoring store for the mall that now displays it's name. The cache itself is located at Ryerson University. Ryerson is a young university, but the campus has held a school since 1852 when Egerton Ryerson founded Ontario's first teacher training facility. Be sure to explore the campus: visit the Quad, a nice park located in the centre of Ryerson’s Kerr Hall and Lake Devo, a small artificial pond great for winter skating. A nice get away from the busy downtown. There are many attractions to see in Toronto’s downtown. If you are up for a walk or just want to explore the area be sure to check out Toronto’s city halls, Art Gallery of Ontario, The University of Toronto and Allan Gardens. Not to mention beautiful architecture and many other attractions along the way. Replace exactly as found and bring your own writing utensil.
