Camp Tom Wooten Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

adaman797: Sounds like this spot is getting developed and is no longer accessible. Thanks for all the fun while it lasted! Dropping a lost TB here to get it out of my account after ten years.

Geocache Description:

A big cache near the ruins of Camp Tom Wooten. Thank you SoaringEagle - now there is pen!

This cache is located amongst some of the ruins of Camp Tom Wooten. This land was originally purchased for $5,000, and was given to the Capitol Area Council in 1934 for a Boy Scout Camp. Although the main camp area was to the north of this location (and has been almost completely developed), there are a few ruins of buildings in this area that may have been part of the camp.

For more history about Camp Tom Wooten and some great pictures from "back in the day," please visit this link: History of Camp Tom Wooten.

The cache is completely hidden from view, but a trained Geocaching eye should have no problem locating where the cache must be. When you hide the cache back, please ensure that it is COMPLETELY OBSCURED FROM VIEW. The owner of a cache that used be here informed me that neighborhood kids often come back here and they might take the cache if it not hidden well enough.

Good luck, be careful, and check out the waypoints above as they will bring you to some interesting points in the area.
