Geocache Description:

Another cache in the series of FAJS/JNB - plane spotting sites around OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA). This is the end or start of runway 21L where you can get a good view of flights coming in to land from the North.

You get a chance to get right up to the security wall at Gate EG2 and also have a view of the approach lights.

The cache site is on a bend in the road so I recommend you park off the corner or on the pavement at the Gate EG2.

The spot is popular for photographers as the planes pass directly overhead at a low height to land at the elevated runway a few metres behind the wall. A certain amount of stealth is required if muggles are around as the cache site is in plain site from the road. A camera in hand is always a good cover.

This site also made news as the source of the two diesel spills from OR Tambo into the local spruit feeding into a popular fishing pan down the Road (see Pumula Park cache). This is the spruit and storm water exit from OR Tambo. The spruit and pan however was cleaned and rehabilitated by ACSA.

The cache is a regular clip lock container.

Please take care of the little ones around the canal. There is no need to enter the water or actual canel.

When placed the cache contained the following items - fancy animal puzzle, Van Loveren Private Cellar cork, Bunny shaped rubber band, Turquise marble, black speckled marble, lady bug and two coins / trackables.

When replacing the cache please replace as found making sure it is out of sight. Be observant of muggles from the road.
