Dating was the last thing on my mind after the 9/11 attacks. I received a message from Steve saying he was interested in my profile because I was such a big Yankees fan. He had tickets to see them play the White Sox and wanted to know if I’d join him. I debated whether it was too soon, but he seemed like a good guy, so I said yes. The Yankees won the game 8-1, and he won my heart. We’ve been together ever since. Thanks Papillon! – Marlene, The Bronx NY

“Pirate Looking at Forty seeks Parrothead to share a Cheeseburger in Paradise,” is what his profile read. I was hooked already! Our first date was at the Target Center during the Beach Odyssey Tour. We danced all night, and “Come Monday” we were making wedding plans. Thanks Papillon, from Margaritaville! – Susan, Minneapolis MN

When Dennis picked me up for our first date he had my favorite public radio station playing on the radio. I knew it would be a great day. As we drove we talked and talked and found out we had a lot in common. We both share an interest in music and were introduced to a new band during that drive, Portico Quartet. Even though we’d not even made it to the restaurant yet, I knew he was the guy for me. – Emily, Washington D.C.

I was skeptical at first, so when Margaret send me a message saying she’d like to meet, I decided to keep it low-key. We planned meet at a coffee shop downtown. I was a little early, so I grabbed a table for two and looked for something to do while I waited. Someone had left a copy of the New York Times at my table, so I started working on the crossword puzzle. I was beginning to have second thoughts when all of a sudden I heard this voice say, “Twenty across is OVERSCHLEPPED.” I turned around to see the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. We still go to that coffee shop every Wednesday and do the crossword together. – Brian, Boston MA

Don’t tell him I told you this, but I only went on our first date for the tickets! Being a lifelong Boilermaker I was desperate for Rose Bowl tickets. When I saw Glenn (aka HuskiesFan) was looking for someone to accompany him, I sent him a message and we made a date. I showed up in my old gold and black, he in his purple and gold (at least we half-matched!). Although we got beat, I left the game feeling like a winner. Glenn and I have lived happily ever after since that day. Thanks Papillon! – Olivia, Pasadena CA

I’d been eying Loretta’s profile for quite some time, and when I scored a pair of tickets to the CMA Awards I finally summoned the courage to ask her out. I knew she was a huge Brad Paisley fan, and he was hosting the show, so I hoped she’d say yes. She accepted (was it me or the tickets?...who cares!) and she looked fabulous when I came to pick her up. That night we got to see Brad win Entertainer of the Year after being shut out five straight times. It was a magical night; I can’t wait to see where this goes! – Vince, Nashville, TN

Carmen and I met for drinks after meeting through Papillon. Let’s just say one thing led to another and we ended up at her place. We were “having some fun” and I remember that SNL was on in the background; that annoying chick from Ally McBeal was the host. We went out for breakfast the next morning and have been together ever since. Although it may not be the most romantic story, we have Papillon to thank for it all! - Chris, Miami, FL

OK, I’ll admit I’m a bit of a nerd. So when I showed up for the picnic with my Magellan 315, I was thrilled to see that Michelle was interested in GPS technology. When I told her about a brand new game called Geocaching she was intrigued. I fired up the Magellan and to my complete surprise we were only 200 metres from the stash - the first in Australia! We made our way over and made the find. Although we’re not geocaching anymore, we’re still going strong. Thanks Papillon (and geocaching!) for helping to bring us together. - Fred, Sydney AUS.
