Geocache Description:

Curacao's "Swinging Old Lady"

-- A tribute to 2~Sherlocks' old Swinging Bridge View cache (GC177V3), now archived --

Just one floor "up" from this cache's location is a great spot to view Curacao's unique Swinging Bridge... Depending on the time of day, one may even get to witness the actual swinging motion in action!

Willemstad's Queen Emma bridge -- affectionately known as the “Swinging Old Lady” -- is one of the oldest and longest non-military pontoon bridges in the world, connecting the Punda and Otrobanda districts of the island's capital. 16 floating pontoon boats support the bridge which at times swings open (using two powerful ship motors) allowing ships to access the port. When originally completed in 1888, tolls were charged for crossing the bridge: 2 cents for pedestrians wearing shoes, 10 cents for horses and, much later, 25 cents per automobile... but so many pedestrians just removed their shoes and crossed barefoot that the toll had to be ultimately scrapped.

A few simple requests concerning this cache: PLEASE be very mindful of muggles, write sufficiently small to allow space for future finders, and place it back EXACTLY as found to prevent it from being accidentally 'discovered'.

Additional Hints (Decrypt)

[SPOILER: Cache is a black magnetic box hidden knee- to waist-high by an old rusty gate. Please watch out for a parking attendant nearby who may be watching you; just pretend you're arranging your shoes, for example. Last but not least, please place it back EXACTLY as found!]
