Geocache Description:

The Public opened its doors in June 2008. Built on the site of the former West Bromwich bus station. Ample parking is available across the road which is free of charge to use on Sundays.

There are no steps and a lift is available to access all floors, so very wheelchair and buggy friendly. Ample rest facilities and baby change areas are there to be used.

The Public is operated by Sandwell Arts Trust with a remit of providing various art exhibitions and workshops; as well as being a venue for theatre, cinema, comedy, conferences and music. The interior of this eye-catching dark grey and magenta building must be seen to be fully appreciated. It has even won awards for its unusual lighting. I take my children often and I hope that by bringing you here you can enjoy it too.

I would like to thank Chris Maher, Programme Officer at the Public for allowing us the use of this remarkable building as a venue for our event.

I would also like to thank Dave Atkinson for his advice and support in arranging our first event.

To get into the spirit of things I thought we could make some Geo-Art of our own. So could everyone please bring a Geo-pic? A photograph that depicts our many wonderful adventures and the amazing places we have discovered through our hobby. You can take your photos home after.

You are invited to look around the building either before or after the event. The doors open at 10am and close at 6pm.

At 12 o'clock please gather in the new PinkTank cafe on the ground floor to catch up on the Geo-Chat and create our Geo-Art. The event will end at 3 o'clock but you are welcome to stay longer, just sign the log book by 3pm.

Everyone of all ages and ability is welcome to come along. Children are especially welcome and they will love playing with all the interactive art such as the flypads and the photo wall.

Refreshments are available but must be purchased. A limited menu is offered on Sundays but if enough of us wish to eat an extended menu can be provided. Please indicate if this is of interest to you when you post a note of attendence.

Looking forward to seeing you all and don't forget those photos!
