Geocache Description:

A 1 litre cache placed beside a bridlepath skirting a wooded hill beside a field.

Guildford Chantries - NorthWest. One of a series of nine.

The cache is a 1 litre food container.

The Chantries form part of the ridge of the North Downs, just to the South of Guildford. Chantry Wood is 78 hectares of mixed woodland and an Area of High Ecological Value within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in striking distance of Guildford Town Centre.

The Chantries are popular with walkers (and dogs) all year. Rabbits, deer, badgers and foxes live wild there. In April/May the wooded area is a mass of bluebells. The top of the hill has open fields with stunning views to the south.

There is a bridlepath, part of the North Downs Way Long Distance National Path, that runs along the north side of the Chantries hill. At the west end, off Pilgrim's Way is a car park close to the cache.

The cache is a 1 litre food container in a hollow formed by the end of a log, with an unnatural pile of sticks covering it. It is best to gain access to the embankment from the path 20 metres or so to the east of the cache.

The cache has been seeded with some initial "treasures" including rubber ball, clockwork tortoise, miniature photo frame, propelling pencil; foreign stamps. The "First to Find" trophy went to LargeLemonCheesecake.

Please ensure that the cache is left with the lid firmly on to keep the contents dry and is well hidden.

Please only log a find if you have signed the log. If you haven't, try adding a "write note" instead. Thanks.
