Geocache Description:

Olympos, at 1,952 metres (6,404 ft), is the highest point of the Troodos Mountains in Cyprus, and this cache is currently the highest available on the island. When you reach the cafe, a sign informs you that you must stop here. It is perfectly safe to drive on. From this point the drive up to Mt Olympus terminates at a small red sign warning that you are approaching a military area. Park sensibly off the road. You will see a dirt road leading off towards GZ. Its blocked to vehicles but you can walk beyond this point. WARNING. You are very close to a sensitive military area. Photography of the installation is strictly forbidden but taking photos of the landscape to the North and West MAY be ok. You are being watched, so do not be foolish with your photography or you will certainly be apprehended. This has happened, so please be warned. You will be rewarded with some wonderful views - both of the countryside, and of the neighbouring British and Cypriot bases at the peak. Old folklore has it that a temple of Venus (Aphrodite) once stood near here, along with various churches, but the ruins are no longer traceable, and you will just have to content yourself with some glorious views.
