Geocache Description:

St Mary's Church Southwick

.

The church, dedicated to St Mary, was originally built about 1230 by the Knyvett family, with parts being modernised in victorian times.

There is heavy buttressing to be seen and this was necessary because the site was originally used by the Romans to extract the local ironstone, and there was some settlement of the church foundations.

To find the cache you will need to indentify the memorial to William Paul Scriven, which has the dates of his birth and death and a 5 line poem.

Collect information from the memorial and calculate the cache co-ordinates.

Dates 19AB 20CD

E = No. of letters in 1st line.
F = No. of words in 2nd line
G = No. of words in 3rd line
H = No. of letters in 4th line

The cache is a short distance away at:-

N52 30.(E+C)(H/G)(E-D) W000 29.(C+A)(H/A)(E-C)

Take care as there is no footpaths or pavements in parts of the village.

If any body would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
