Buracas do Casmilo
Nos principais maciços calcários portugueses, o processo de evolução cársica do relevo conduziu à formação de paisagens peculiares cujo valor patrimonial não oferece reservas. O Maciço de Sicó, localizado entre os concelhos de Condeixa-a-Nova, Pombal e Alvaiázere, não constitui excepção e nele se inscrevem formações geológicas audazes, das quais o Vale das Buracas dá provas.
É na freguesia do Furadouro, na povoação do Casmilo (enquadrada pelo monte da Senhora do Círculo e pela Serra de Janeanes) que vamos encontrar este vale, pequeno canhão fluviocársico com as vertentes quase totalmente escavadas por abrigos sob rocha e pequenas lapas, as célebres buracas onde, até há pouco tempo, se agasalhavam os rebanhos de cabras e ovelhas, e que ainda hoje alimentam histórias e lendas.
As buracas, que lembram velhas bocas prontas a tragar,? correspondem, de facto, a pequenas reentrâncias de desenvolvimento horizontal, cuja abertura e profundidade raramente ultrapassam a dezena de metros. Estas foram formadas pelo abatimento nuclear do monte, sendo que só as cavidades laterais, remanescentes da gruta que antes se ocultava dentro do monte, permanecem visíveis.
Embora possam ser entendidas como testemunhos de formas do carso profundo, elas relacionam-se, antes de mais, com a evolução superficial das vertentes calcárias escarpadas, devendo ter-se formado em épocas mais frias que a actual, provavelmente durante o último período frio do Quaternário.
Aliás, tanto na base destas como na de outras vertentes escarpadas com buracas, são visíveis os depósitos de gelifractos, testemunho inequívoco de que a rocha se fragmentou pelo gelo. Se ao visitante comum, as buracas impressionam pela imponência, aos espeleólogos e praticantes de desportos de outdoor (escalada, montanhismo, orientação, rappel...) constituem-se em desafio empolgante.

Buracas of Casmilo

Although they can be understood as forms of evidence of karst deep, they relate, first, with the evolution superficial aspects of the limestone cliffs, and have been formed on colder than at present, probably during the last cold period of the Quaternary.
Incidentally, both on the basis of these as in other steep slopes with holes are visible deposits gelifractos, testimony clear that the rock broke the ice.
