How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Cache is located near the city of Atenas, which has been declared as having "the greatest climate on earth". This should be an easy park with a challenging grab. There are always plenty of muggles about after school and on weekends during the soccer games.

We chose this spot because it is located in a typically quiet Costa Rican neighborhood and it is on our property. Be sure to sit awhile and listen to the birds, take in the scenery and watch out for cows that frequently take over the soccer field when no one is paying attention.

Once you get to the coordinates, it should be easy to spot the Travel Bug Hotel, but you can't unlock it until you find the actual cache.

The cache is a green bison tube hidden on the perimeter of our property. It will be very difficult to grab, or hide, when muggles are about, so use extreme stealth.

Turn off the principal road to Jaco beach onto the secondary road toward Santa Eulalia and Palmares. After the first bridge and just before the next sign for Santa Eulalia, take a right turn, up a narrow paved road. Watch for the soccer field on the right after you pass the school, Escuela Fatima.

If we are home, be sure to stop and visit with us awhile. Do not be afraid to ring the doorbell, on either gate, if you need help finding this one. We are usually home and we'll be happy to give you some additional hints. We own the little casita at the first gate, by the cache, and we live in the casa at the second gate, just 50 meters South. When you find the cache you will find the key to unlock the TB Hotel.

Please do not take more than one or two Travel Bugs, unless you are dropping off new TB's. Also, do not take a Travel Bug if are not able to move it along and help it meet the owner's goal. Costa Rica's muggles are notorious for stealing Travel Bugs, so we recommend you are very selective when moving them to another cache site.

P.S. If you're lucky, you just might spot our visible Travel Bug and you'll be able to log it as "discovered" too.

Enjoy

WARNING: Caches in this vicinity have been muggled frequently. Los Ticos are naturally curious. If they see you grab the cache, or hide it back in it's place, you are almost guaranteed the cache will disappear before the next geocacher comes along. Please heed this warning and do not attempt this if there are people in the area. If you can't put it back, ring the door bell. We'll take the cache container from you and put it back in it's hiding place after the muggles leave.
