A short, but steep, hike from Powter How for a
stunning view down Bassenthwaite Lake, across to Skiddaw or along
to Keswick
Going Up
If you ever needed proof that size doesn't matter you only need to
climb Barf and admire the wide-angle panorama that is laid out
before you. Yes there are higher mountains in The Lakes - in fact
one can be seen clearly from the cache, but very few can impress
with such a view. Standing at only 468m you'll need to put a bit of
effort into the climb when ascending via Beckstones Gill, but every
breathe and energy sapping step is worth it for the reward.
Make A Day Of It: Take Lunch
Since you've made the effort why not find your way back down via
Lords Seat by charlieg0pzo and Whinlatter Forest.
And for the brave? Why not attempt
Bishop's Rock by The Smileys before making the
ascent to take your Front Row Seat.
What You Are Looking For
The cache is a Medium sized click-lock box containing a logbook,
pencil and various swaps. There is plenty of space for visiting
Travel Bugs in need of a place to rest before continuing their
journey.
Happy caching!
