The Main Museum for Thailand
The Bangkok National Museum features exhibits of Thai art and history. The museum was established and opened in 1874 by King Rama V to exhibit relics from the rule of King Rama IV's rule. Today the galleries contain exhibits covering Thai History back to Neolithic times.
The palace, built in 1782, houses many beautiful and diverse exhibits including elephant howdahs, royal furnishings, weapons, porcelain and musical instruments. The spectacular Funeral chariots can also be seen on the site.
The Buddhaisawan Chapel (Tamnak Phutthaisawan) in the Museum grounds, contains well preserved murals depicting the life of Buddha and the second most important Buddha image in Thailand, the Phra Buddha Singh.
The collection includes The King Ram Khamhaeng Inscription, which was inscribed on UNESCO's Memory of the World Programme Register in 2003 in recognition of its world significance.
The museum is located in the former palace of the vice king (or Front Palace), next to the Sanam Luang.
One of the Must see exhibits in my humble opinion is the Funeral Carriages.
