TWO HATS: The planned changes around GZ by the Council are now upon us... Thought it better to archive the Hills View Series than attempt to replace them elsewhere.

Thanks to all who have taken the time and trouble to look for these caches.. and for the Nice detailed logs which we appreciate a lot.

TWO ANCHORS will soon be placing more caches in the area.. some of which will quite possibly be as devious as these have been.

Geocache Description:

The Sequel to Hills View.
A well hidden Nano sized cache.

Access via Footpath is from Victoria Rd or Portland Rd.
Gravel footpaths will get you close to GZ but the final few metres will require negotiating steep grass covered slopes which can be very slippey when wet.

The footpaths can be busy with Muggles in the Summer months.

Please be Quiet at GZ.. you are close to houses and gardens here... Noise is sure to make the locals inquisitive.

This area is known locally as "The Hills" and was once the site of no fewer than 5 Coal Mines which were the source of coal used by the Butterley company to produce Iron at their furnaces at their main works at Ripley 5 miles away.

In the centre of this area is a steep incline with a deep valley which was an incline railway driven by a stationary steam engine now occupied by the Somerfield / Coop supermarket, Village Chemist and Doctor Surgery a few hundred yards to the North West.
The Steam driven Stationary Engine was used to haul empty coal wagons from the lower regions of the Village to the top of these Hills where the Pit Heads were situated.
