Loads of people will be off to Stonehenge but since that's miles
away let's have our solstice in another area of neolithic
activity.
The December solstice will occur at 23:38 (or 11.38pm)
Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) on December 21, 2010. It is also
known as the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere and the
summer solstice in the southern hemisphere due to the seasonal
differences. Its date varies from December 20 to December 23
depending on the year in the Gregorian calendar.
Since 21st December is a Tuesday the event will be on Sunday
19th December. We will meet at the trig point on Baildon Hill at
08:00 in time for sunrise at about 08:22
Obviously it's going to be cold so wrap up warm, bring
tea/coffee and bacon sandwiches etc.
***You may notice that I've included the camping available
attribute. Locals will know that Dobrudden Caravan Park is down the
hill but for anyone coming from further afield it's a convenient
place to stay.***
