Geocache Description:

Milestone Challenge

Fallenfaery and SpecialEd started a tradition in this area years ago with placing caches in honor of other cachers reaching 1,000 finds and every 1,000 after. The earliest reference I could find to this was back in 2004. Since then many other cachers have placed caches in honor of other cachers 1,000+ finds. When this started a silver ammo can was placed for someone 1,000th find and gold for someones 2,000 find. At the time the idea of reaching numbers higher then that were not common. But as we know today several people have even broken the 10,000 mark. We have seen new colors introduced, we have seen series placed, and even creative paint jobs and containers introduced.

So to honor all the hides out there that commemorate those special finds this challenge was conceived. This hide was placed to challenge people to go out there and find those milestone caches and hide a few of your own for your fellow cachers and friends. This cache is located at the posted coordinates but to log the find you need to collect 200,000 points. You get points for each milestone cache you find in the manner of 1 point for every find. So if you find a cachers 1,000th milestone hide you get 1,000 points. The milestones must be for finds and not a cachers hide milestone. Also if a series of caches is placed in honor of a cachers accomplishments you may only claim those points once.

Please create a bookmark list of your finds and this challenge and in the notes for this challenge place your total score. All previous finds are allowed. I have created multiple Bookmark lists to help you find caches that qualify for the challenge. With active caches as of the date of publishing there are over 400,000 points available in the GONIL and CIGA area. You will be looking for a 30cal Ammo Can hidden in typical fashion in the woods. The can is painted to honor many of the colors seen on milestone caches. Depending on which way you come in and time of year there could be a very small creek crossing. Also make sure to stay east of the hide until you are close. West of the cache is off limits as it is an archery range. Just pay attention to the posted signs and you will be okay. Happy hunting.
