Geocache Description:

All Saints Church, Old Heathfield

Photobucket

All Saints' Heathfield is situated in the heart of East Sussex and is an attractive 13Century building with a large churchyard.
The main body of the Church is built of local sandstone. The tower is constructed of chalk faced with sandstone and the steeple is tiled with cedar shingles.

All Saints' has many lovely stained glass windows, but the one of special interest commemorates the foundation of the first settlement at Jamestown in Virginia USA in 1607.
Robert Hunt, vicar of Heathfield, sailed with John Smith (of Pocahontas fame) and Captain Gosnold to America (13 years before the Pilgrim Fathers). They were pioneering settlers.

If any body would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you
could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the
Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
