Geocache Description:

Lovely little Church close enough to the main A38 and M5 to make it a great break from a trip and out of the way enough to make it a quiet spot. Slight update since building work compleated there is no longer a post at Ground Zero. Photobucket

Edithmead It has been said that the village derived its name from Queen Edith, wife of Edward the Confessor, and there is evidence that this lady did have estates in Somerset. The little tin-clad mission church of St Andrew was brought to the village in 1919. This building, when consecrated, took the place of the railway carriage where all church services had previously been held. This railway carriage was situated in the doctor's garden and the particular plot where it stood was called Chapel Ground, and was very stony and hard to dig.
