Geocache Description:

Waitangi Park and Surrounds

Six hectares in total, Waitangi Park covers almost 30% of the waterfront. Creating the park has turned the area that used to be known as “Chaffers” into “Wellington’s newest, biggest and most exciting urban park.”

The development has been designed in three areas, allowing separate implementation of the park area first (Area One).

Now that Area One is complete, you can bring the family down for a picnic then send the teenagers off to the skate park, while the younger ones can play safely in the Children's Play Garden. Meanwhile, the adults can enjoy a game of petanque or watch the kids at play while enjoying a fresh coffee. Alternatively, you can head down to the Park in the evening with your fish 'n chips, watch a concert on the Park's central open field, enjoy the sunset, paddle in the tide at the new beach or stroll along the new boardwalk promenade. If you have a few paint spray cans left over from your cache camo exploits, you can bring them down and decorate the "aerosol art walls." Something for everyone.

The cache is in an area identified on the Master Plan as “Shadows of Waka passage ways.” I'll leave you to figure out what that is all about. The cache is a pill bottle. Please replace carefully to ensure it does not get muggled in this busy spot.
