Bernie's CHIRP Cache Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bernie The Geocacher: Well it seems that the area of this cache has been vandalised as there are lots of glass bottles and bits of glass around the cache. The Ammo box has gone and it wont be easy to find another spot to replace it, so reluctantly I am having to archive this series. Very sorry Micky! I am happy for you to log this find and I'll PM you the coords for the next cache and Archive those in the next 2 weeks.

Many thanks for all those who found and enjoyed this series

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

A first for Hampshire

This is my first attempt at a new type of Geocache using the "Beacon" Attribute where you need to have a GPS capable of receiving an electronic message from a CHIRP. All of the following will work:- Oregon, Dakota, GPSMAP78 and GPSMAP62 as long as you have the latest software. Please check that you do have CHIRP searching on your GPS before attempting this cache. Goto Setup, Geocaching to check.

I have had a cache in these woods now for over 18 months and with about 200 finds. I have therefore decided to replace it with a new type of cache that requires you to visit a location and then receive the final coordinates electronically. Therefore if you have already found "Bernie's Copse Cache", then this cache replaces it and you can try and find it again, but it is not in the same location!

When you park in the free car park, goto the next "stage" waypoint and when you get nearby you will pick up the CHIRP and this will give you the final coordinates to find the cache.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further information.

Parking is at the above coordinates

Have fun and please let me know if this worked well?

It is recommended to turn "Off" CHIRP searching when you have finished because it is thought to put an extra drain on GPS batteries.
